So - yes, they both fall under "support" category and do the same thing in airsoft games.

except ПКМ has a longer barrel for longer range before needing to bother with a hop-up adjustment. It has a larger storage capacity allowing you to load it with much more ammo as well as a greater capacity battery. It is just silly to say РПК is the same or even similar in performance on the field compared to the ПКМ! Just silly. ПКМ totally showed it's ability to dominate the battle field at East Wind IV. My РПК gave a pretty epic performance, and I can easily say that the ПКМ topped it. РПК is great to have. ПКМ is fucking awesome to have!

Pretty much exactly what happened in real life is happening in Airsoft:

The PKM obviously has a ton of benefits over the RPK in terms of firepower and range. You hardly ever see units carrying RPK's unless they are on training. The PKM as a GPMG is superior. Same applies to airsoft.

However, since most airsofters are cheap bastards, they will continue just throwing drum mags on 7.62 and 5.45 RPK variants and call it a support gun.

Yeah Sonic, when was the last time you counted all the pennies in your sporran? =) Being cheap ******* means that you eat craft dinner and have a several hundred thousands in stock making money over time. Scottish people are very resourceful, I had worked with more than a few in Canada, and most of them are wealthy folk, but they don't tend to show it off as many other nations do. "True gold does not glitter", ey? ;)

Kraft? I eat generic Key Food microwave mac. It's actually pretty good. Kudos for the sporran reference. Pointing out I wear a purse does wonders for my ego. My 'wealth' goes to our glorious hobby, my music endeavours and trying to emigrate FROM the US. Go figure.

Spank, who was saying anything about performance of RPK VS PKM? In airsoft games they are both support weapons, that's a fact. Unless you get a tripod and make your PKM a crew served weapon, or mount in on a vehicle they both are carried by a machine gunner (or in case of PKM is a crew - shooter/reloader-fire corrector). They both are used to suppress the enemy. Am I wrong?

Schultz was making it sound like essentially the same thing.

What distinguishes them, what I listed above, is a significant difference.

M240 and M60 don't offer a distinct difference as far as capability in Airsoft.

Only a little bit of difference between them and a M249 in Airsoft.

But a big difference between an RPK and PKM.

Both are good to have and very welcome for Bad Blood because there will be lots of targets at long ranges.
Long barreled hosers for the win in this case.

I was thinking a SAW(esque) more for Tantalum where if all goes to plan we'll be defending an objective instead of traversing a field.
I am all for superior firepower, so if we have a gunner with a squad weapon to terrorize the Militia, let's do it.

Oh, and regarding the Soviet Vietnam adviser, pretty good. Though the aviators seem out of place. And the kahki pants and shirt look kind of uniform. Hawaiian shirt would have looked better.

Spank - Ok. I see your point. =)
Sonic - absolutely support gunner is a great plus in both games. I will speak about another idea that I have in mind for Tantalum, in case I'll be able to get out there.

I also have an idea for Tantalum that ties directly to BadBlood. We can discuss during The Hunt For Red Dawn

the gearbox is neglegably stronger in airsoft saw boxes to a v3, in airsoft an rpk is just as good as a pkm or m249, I've worked on both a lot and can say aside from the cool factor and realism the pkm or m249 is no better. With an r hop you wouldn't need to worry about tearing hop rubbers which was an old perk to m249 and m60

I still plan to get a pkm but I know it won't be any more reliable than a well build rpk v3 gearbox.
